Hosting |
What's involved in hosting? Visitors, and hosts, vary from single persons and middle aged couples to small families. The main visits are normally arranged spring and autumn, alternating the dates between countries and size of groups involved. Currently one visit a year aims to use a coach whilst the other time has a smaller group using shared transport. Early spring usually has a special visit aimed at walkers though others participate in the lunch together. Arrival times vary but usually a Friday evening. Saturday would be an organised trip to a tourist attraction and would normally take a full day. The hosting family are encouraged to enjoy the day with their visitors but it is not compulsory. Guests leave sometime on Sunday. Catering may involve an evening meal Friday depending on time of arrival and Saturday would involve breakfast, packed lunch plus an evening meal. Sunday would normally only involve breakfast. Sometimes hosts join together in a some way or even as the whole group to add to the occasion. If you could not take a full part in the weekend's activities you would still be responsible for delivering your guests to and from the meeting points and other events. We have found that nearly everyone attempts to join in as much as possible and gets great pleasure from the experience. We would love to see you on one of our visits to France or joining in when we welcome our French guests here. There are many French families who enjoy the hosting experience both for themselves and their children and can speak quite good English if required.
